Return of the wanderer

I know it has been a long time since I last posted, aproximately 9 and a half months to be more precise. After I moved to the UK and started university it seems that I got so caught up in the web of my new life that my writing has been trapped in it as well.

So many interesting and exciting things have happened, so many lovely people have come into my life and, still, I have not written about them. This post is also due to a new but very good friend of mine with which I was talking last night. It is funny how people can make you remember things you have forgot about even if you enjoyed them so much.

I think I will fast forward through the past months and try to highlight some of the most interesting and important things that have happened in my life. It begins with:

OCTOBER- Soon after I stopped writing I found myself with a work permit, on my dad's birthday, 10th October, and 4 days after I was happily employed at the Bear, a very nice inn just outside Oxford, where I have been working along wonderful people and experiencing most of British culture, Burns Night, Pumpkin Night, Christmas, New Years, Asparagus Week, Morris dancing, Aunt Sally and many more.

NOVEMBER- This is the month I met some of the people I am very fond of now, it was a dark and gloomy month but full of coursework and actual work.

DECEMBER- The month of cheer and joy was not that bright for me as most of my friends left for home and I stayed behing to work, not going home to be with my family. However, I got the good news that I finished my first term at university with an A average.

JANUARY- Was a good month, working full-time as I was on holiday, and getting my second job at the Oxford Town Hall. It was also the month when my mummy came to visit me and saw England for the first time. She loved it as much as I do and was very impressed with "you lot".

FEBRUARY- Was a quieter month, middlle of the term, however, at the end of it, and the beginning of MARCH, I went home for the first time in half a year, to celebrate my 20th birthday. It was great fun but such a short stay, only 3 days.

APRIL- Was wonderful, sunny and warm and we had our Easter break, perfect for recovering from the winter and it was the month when I found out I won VIP tickets to Download festival.

MAY- Was my last month as a fresher, I finished my first year of uni and participated in selecting material from the archive for the Man Booker Prize exhibition, very cool for me as a Publishing student and also got my third job, at The Cape. I also had my first tourist in the UK

experience in May, visiting Bath. At the end of the month I left for Romania once again as on the 1st of JUNE my big sis got married, yes, MARRIED. It was great fun to be back home but very tiring. At the end of this month, in one week's time, I am flying out to Croatia for a mini-break in the scorching sun *yey* as I got my results and finished my first year with an A average.

Almost forgot, the other night I saw Hugh Laurie (House MD) perform at Oxford New Theatre with The Copper Bottom Band and it was amazing, best show I have seen in ages. If you ever get the chance to see him, GO, it will be well worth it!

That's all for now and I am proud I managed to keep it this short.

I know there have been more things happening and that I have made some decisions regarding my future that I didn't include, however, that's material for another post, that will hopefully follow shortly.

10 things I love about summer

Summer  is a lovely time of year,  you have the long days and with a little luck longer, warmer days and sunshine. Why wouldn't one love summer then!? I was contemplating how much I enjoy this season and how busy the days seem to be, of course the British summer isn't as sunny but there are days when it's warm enough and it doesn't rain. Therefore, here are my 10 reasons for loving summer: 1. The feeling of freedom it gives. I know will fade with time because school will end and when you work you don't have 3 months of summer vacation but for now it feels so good to know you have such a lengthy amount of time off every year. 2. The repeating cycle of big changes preceeded by it, every 4 years I start a new chapter in my book, passing from one school to another, from one city to a new one, so I anxiously wait for these rare and random summers. 3. The wonderful hot weather perfect for all those trips and relaxing walks, though it isn't true for all the

Day 17 in Zambia- Chikumbuso again and the Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel

Yesterday was an interesting day as I got to go back to Chikumbuso and we went through all the projects identified at the previous visit, therefore, we moved on into making a clear list with items needed and then to assigning who will get the quotes, the project is progressing and hopefully, soon enough we will be able to move forward and start writing the project plan, in order to have it approved by the RI Foundation. I am back at marking essays and it is wearing me out a little, but today I had a more relaxed day as I couldn't make it to Chilenje and had to postpone it for tomorrow. Did go and do some shopping and have a lovely lunch with Sid. We went for the Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel as he wanted a burger and they make some pretty darn good ones, as I got a taste of his. I went for a mediterranean lunch with a toasted roasted veg and humous sandwich, that was simply delicious. While we were eating, we sat on the terrace and there was a very nice artificial lake, that had,

Another year has passed, with ups and downs

Funnily enough, seems like spring is a time for reflection. I always seem to come back to my blogging during this time, even though I think about often and miss it. I was looking at buying a typewriter and having a go at more regular diary blogs. That is for another time though. Since the last time I wrote, a lot has happened. I will start with the passing of my dad, he aged in a year enough for an entire life and unfortunately left us way too early. He was only 54, I left 3 days after my last post last year, on the 8th April, early in the morning after going to the Easter mass and saying goodbye to him, telling him I would be back in May. A week later on the 16th April, he decided it was time, even before my mom called me, I knew it happened and a sharp pain went through me, even 2000 km away, something broke when he left this physical world and he took away with him. That has been probably the most important event of this year for me. I think about him all the time and I miss
