Day 24- A full week!

Unfortunately, my write ups every 2 days didn't pass the 3 week mark, as I got caught up with various activities. To quickly catch up with a couple of things I have been doing I will just write down some highlights from each day!

Day 18- I was at Chilenje B and Libala High School all day and had classes with the children, it was quite tiring but I always love to interact with them so it didn't get me down!

Day 19- I met the Rotakids at Libala Basic and made a plan to this week, finally getting to grips with my appointments and making sense of them, after that I had the Interact meeting at Libala HS, where we decided on the tshirt logos that I made and then we had some fun singing, I also met Sean, one of the main connections with the Rotary club back in the UK.

Day 20- I was at Chilenje B with the Special Needs Dep all morning and noon, we played some cool games of guessing shapes and spelling and I made pancakes for the students, which they were really happy about! In the evening we went to a braii which was delicious, at the same friends that we went too 2 weeks ago, and this time I ate something called Pani Puri, which you can barely fit in your mouth and you need to eat it whole!

Day 21- Saturday was a full on day, I was at my friend Elaine's last soccer game. They lost 3-0 and after waiting for about 3 hours for them to play we went home defeated. But then me, Elaine and George, went for lunch and milkshakes at Levy and saw How to train your dragon 2 in 3D which was much more amazing than we expected. All in all a good day, and it was followed by really good sushi at Aviva, I had stuffed crab to start and rainbow sushi for mains, which I could not finish, and then we went to Skybar, and saw the whole panorama of Lusaka from the table, it was so beautiful, you could compare it with the dark night sky illuminated by stars.

Day 22- I went to an African birthday party for Michael, Juliet's friend, that just returned after 7 years from the States, and we stayed there and partied for the whole day, until about 8. I got to see how a real African party is and everyone was impressed at my dancing skills, even Michael that lives in Chicago said that he has seen white girls dance but never like me, so I ended up being severely embarassed at all the compliments so by the time we left I was red as a lobster. Then I ended up going to watch the World Cup at a terrace with Sid and his friends and had some very interesting debates and conversations on life, etnicity, Buddha and other topics.

Day 23- The fatigue started to kick in and the fact that I had a bunch of Rotakids to do arts with was daunting, however, due to lack of resources, we had to change our plans, and I ran across the street with Sean to buy some baking stuff, and ended up making omlettes and pain au chocolat, African version. We are doing origami on Thurs so will have to plan that better! Then I moved to Libala HS and did some more project writing sessions as well as played basketball and volleyball and ate again nshima, yum!

Day 24- Today was a bit more relaxed, we went to the YWCA in the morning and then at 1 attended the Rotary Club of Lusaka meeting, that resulted in me maybe starting up their website and attending another club''s Rotaract meeting on Wed possibly. Afterwards, I went to get some thank you gifts for my hosts and mainly just tried to organise the rest of my week.

I might be going either to Livingstone or Kafue this weekend, so have loads to plan, as well as do my work and move my things. Will have a lot going on so will probaly resort to updating the diary once a week, nevertheless, it seems easier to write every two days if I have time and internet as everything is more vivid in my memory. Time will tell!!

10 things I love about summer

Summer  is a lovely time of year,  you have the long days and with a little luck longer, warmer days and sunshine. Why wouldn't one love summer then!? I was contemplating how much I enjoy this season and how busy the days seem to be, of course the British summer isn't as sunny but there are days when it's warm enough and it doesn't rain. Therefore, here are my 10 reasons for loving summer: 1. The feeling of freedom it gives. I know will fade with time because school will end and when you work you don't have 3 months of summer vacation but for now it feels so good to know you have such a lengthy amount of time off every year. 2. The repeating cycle of big changes preceeded by it, every 4 years I start a new chapter in my book, passing from one school to another, from one city to a new one, so I anxiously wait for these rare and random summers. 3. The wonderful hot weather perfect for all those trips and relaxing walks, though it isn't true for all the

Day 17 in Zambia- Chikumbuso again and the Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel

Yesterday was an interesting day as I got to go back to Chikumbuso and we went through all the projects identified at the previous visit, therefore, we moved on into making a clear list with items needed and then to assigning who will get the quotes, the project is progressing and hopefully, soon enough we will be able to move forward and start writing the project plan, in order to have it approved by the RI Foundation. I am back at marking essays and it is wearing me out a little, but today I had a more relaxed day as I couldn't make it to Chilenje and had to postpone it for tomorrow. Did go and do some shopping and have a lovely lunch with Sid. We went for the Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel as he wanted a burger and they make some pretty darn good ones, as I got a taste of his. I went for a mediterranean lunch with a toasted roasted veg and humous sandwich, that was simply delicious. While we were eating, we sat on the terrace and there was a very nice artificial lake, that had,

Another year has passed, with ups and downs

Funnily enough, seems like spring is a time for reflection. I always seem to come back to my blogging during this time, even though I think about often and miss it. I was looking at buying a typewriter and having a go at more regular diary blogs. That is for another time though. Since the last time I wrote, a lot has happened. I will start with the passing of my dad, he aged in a year enough for an entire life and unfortunately left us way too early. He was only 54, I left 3 days after my last post last year, on the 8th April, early in the morning after going to the Easter mass and saying goodbye to him, telling him I would be back in May. A week later on the 16th April, he decided it was time, even before my mom called me, I knew it happened and a sharp pain went through me, even 2000 km away, something broke when he left this physical world and he took away with him. That has been probably the most important event of this year for me. I think about him all the time and I miss
